HCYLSA Awarded $2,500 from AgWest

Burns, OR (April 15, 2025) – The Harney County Youth Livestock Show and Auction is pleased to announce it has been awarded $2,500 through AgWest Farm Credit’s Rural Community Grant program to be used towards the "Pass the Pants" fundraiser to purchase livestock panels and equipment for use at the new Harney County Fairgrounds facility.

The funds granted to Harney County Youth Livestock Show and Auction will impact the local community by helping provide the necessary infrastructure to have a safe and efficient livestock show at the 2025 Harney County Fair while also continuing the legacy of Harney County working together to enhance opportunities for youth.

Amanda Tyler, Chair of the Harney County Youth Livestock and Auction Committee is very appreciative of AgWest’s support saying “Our goal is to ensure the fairgrounds are ready and safe for our youth and livestock for the 2025 Harney County Fair and this grant will help us obtain the necessary livestock handling and exhibition equipment that will ensure our youth have livestock show opportunities for many years to come.”

AgWest’s Rural Community Grants provide funds to non-profit organizations for projects that improve rural communities within Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. This includes efforts such as building or improving facilities; purchasing necessary equipment to facilitate a local program; and funding capital improvements which enhance a community’s infrastructure, viability and prosperity.
